Enrolment Process

Sacred Heart Croydon

Thank you for considering Sacred Heart for your child and family. Enrolments for Foundation are taken the year prior to commencing school. Booking a school tour is a great starting point and can be done by contacting our school office on (03) 9724 4333, emailing office@shcroydon.catholic.edu.au or completing a booking form below. Prep enrolments are open to all students who turn 5 years by 30th April of the year they begin school. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to experience our community and to be guided through the enrolment process.

Prep Transition

Sacred Heart is committed to facilitating a comprehensive transition program for incoming Foundation students. This begins in Term 3 in the year prior to the student beginning school, with regular orientation opportunities offered throughout the rest of the year. The transition process consists of: 

 

  • 2 x ‘Story Time’ sessions onsite.

  • Transition meetings/visits with some kindergartens. 

  • 3 x Orientation activity days onsite. Sessions could include PE, Library, Italian and Performing Arts activities. 

  • An onsite Parent Information Evening.

  • 1 x Transition Day with the class group and teacher for the following year.

Uniform

Sacred Heart Primary School uniforms can be purchased via the following options:

When does winter/summer uniform start?

In the first few weeks of Term 2 and Term 4, students can wear either summer or winter uniforms. Boys are permitted to wear shorts year-round. The following principle is then applied:

  • Term 1: Summer uniform

  • Term 2: Winter uniform

  • Term 3: Winter uniform

  • Term 4: Summer uniform

 

Sport uniform days will be assigned in the first few weeks of first Term 1. Students attend in full sports uniform on these days.

 

Hats are to be worn between September-April in accordance with the Sun Smart policy.

Tuck Shop

Sacred Heart parents kindly volunteer to operate the Tuck Shop each Friday. All those assisting must first provide a copy of their valid Working with Children Check.

Out of School Hours Care - OSHC

Team Kids facilitates the Before and After School Care Program at Sacred Heart. Services are offered each school day from 6:30am-8:30am and 3:15pm-6:15pm. The program also operates on early finish days and school closure days if there is sufficient demand.

Communication

At Sacred Heart parents are asked to set up profiles on Class Dojo, Operoo & Nforma. It is important that this is done early in the year to ensure clear communication pathways and that student information is up to date.

 

What is Class Dojo?

ClassDojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what’s being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages.

 

What is Operoo?

Operoo provides a simple way for parents/guardians to sign forms and safely share emergency and medical data with schools and clubs.

 

What is Nforma?

Nforma is a reporting platform . Creating a profile on the Parent Portal allows you to access student mid and end of year Student Achievement Reports.

Parents & Friends Association

The Parents and Friends Association exists to actively promote the building of Sacred Heart School community and to provide financial support for the school’s activities. The Committee works in close liaison with the Principal and Staff. Priorities for funding initiatives are determined by consultation based on the needs of the school. Throughout the year the P & F organises a variety of functions to bring parents, families and friends together for social and/or fundraising activities.

School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council is an advisory body which supports the Principal, Parish Priest and parents in the pursuit of education and the development of Sacred Heart School.

 

The School Advisory Council has been active in developing a Masterplan for the school, assisting with the School Review, implementing recommendations, endorsing school policies and supporting school initiatives. Membership of the School Advisory Council is open to any parents interested in discussing and promoting education. The School Advisory Council meets each term.
